Trafalgar Square

The weather was particularly good on this trip to the big city and visitors were blessed with sunshine. This picture was taken with the Leica M8 using a 21mm wide angle lens. The photo was a combination of three photos at different exposures joined together in Photomatix pro and then tone mapped. The result is what is known as a high definition range photo (HDR).

Bampton Trees

I have more photos of these trees than any other subject in Bampton. They lend themselves at various times of the day, and the year, to superb imagery. This photo has more requests for display than any other Bampton shot. Although it was a foggy morning I have altered the background colours in Photoshop to be more pleasing to the eye. I think it works.

Towards Minehead

I was out with the dogs having a bit of a wander up the cliffs near Minehead when I came across this shot. I was lucky, as I often am, that the tide was out so creating these diagonal swatches of colour. It’s an easy walk thi sone starting at Porlock and heading towards Minehead. Even the climb is gentle and well worth the effort.

RHS Rosemoor

What a day out RHS Rosemoor is. The every spectacular grounds are matched by the attention to detail of each part of the arrangements within the gardens. Definitely visit this fine garden and take your tripod. You’ll be there all day ; there is so much to see and to photograph. This shot was taken with the big Canon and an 85mm 1.2 lens to ensure maximum out of focus. This lens is worth every penny.

Home

I’m a fortunate chap. I live here in Bampton in Devon and it is one of those places where there are so many great photos I’ll never take them all in my lifetime. Every day I go out with my camera and every day I come back with a new favourite. This is an oldy but goody. I think it was on the calendar last year, but if it wasn’t it should have been.

On the Thames

This photo was taken at the end of Westminster Bridge looking down the Thames. Although it’s not in the photo, the London Eye is over to the left. I didn’t add it the photo as it appears incongruous and out of place in all the history of the Thames. You can see St Pauls, the Nat West Tower and the Gherkin in the foggy distance. The lovely colour of the light is due to the sun setting.
